Finnish mission in Lachen
A Missionary School in Lachen, North Sikkim, around 1938. The Finnish missionaries taught the Lachenpas not only how to read and write in English but also how to weave rugs and plant potatoes.

  1. My father David Tregoning is working in Narayanganj Bengal in the Jute trade. He and a friend in 1931, 1932 and 1934 trek through Sikkim. In 1932 this includes 10 days in Tibet. At Lachen they buy one rug each. His rug 87 years later is in Yorkshire England in my sisters house
